Neil Stephens is an architect with over 20 years' experience in housing design and delivery. He is Associate Head of Technical & Design at Apt Architects, Chair of the UK Cohousing Network and Founder of High Performing Homes. His work explores how better homes can improve affordability, health, sustainability and long term public value.

Based in London, UK, where he has lived and worked for over seventeen years. Working on projects across multiple sectors and scales, including residential, new build, regeneration, roof-top extensions, extra-care, and retrofits through to large scale developments, as well as mixed-use developments, libraries, and conference centres. During his career he has developed a passion for sustainable architecture and construction.

After the birth of his daughter, Neil became even more aware of the need to create sustainable, energy efficient  buildings that have minimal environmental impact. He has a keen interest in community developments and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the UK Cohousing Network.

Neil enjoys being a dad and spending time with his daughter. When he's not working or enjoying time with his family, he'll be advocating self-build, aspiring to educate others on how all homes should be smart, sustainable, affordable and healthy.
